Lafayette Cello Academy - Company Message
The legendary cellist Pablo Casals was asked why he continued to practice at age 90.  "Because I think I'm making progress" he replied.    (The Fretboard Journal

"I am a human being first, a musician second, and a cellist third".  (Pablo Casals)
I think I'll go practice my scales now!
At Lafayette Cello Academy, we believe the cello is the most gorgeous of instruments, capable of producing music of unparalleled richness and depth and we want to share our love of this instrument with you. We can prepare your children for the discipline and dedication necessary to succeed, while giving them a healthy route to express their creativity and enthusiasm. At Lafayette Cello Academy, we give our students the gift of music within a fun and interactive atmosphere and provide the very best musical education possible to the children and people in the community.
We want to hear from you, so that we can take care of your weekly or just occasional lesson needs. We teach all ages and levels, but specialize in beginning students.  From 2007 to 2013 our Director was the strings class assistant at all 4 of the Lafayette elementary schools so we know what's expected.   Whether you have a child just starting the cello, wanting to play well at their school finals, or wanting to get a seat in a particular youth orchestra, you have come to the right place. When auditioning for a seat in a youth orchestra it's helpful to know what the judges are looking for. We will coach your child to play the excerpts the way the judges appreciate hearing them, because we have been through the audition experience ourselves and also have experience being on judging panels.  In addition, we have helped many students to sit first chair in all of the school orchestras in Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda and other cities in the area.  We have helped students get accepted into universities such as U.C. Berkeley, U.C. Davis, U.C. Santa Cruz, Oregon State University and Azusa Pacific University in So Cal.
If you are an adult who is interested in learning to play the cello for fun, we encourage you to take our Group Cello Appreciation Class.  Its fun, inspiring and instructive.  It will introduce you to our beloved instrument that is closest to the human voice.  If group lessons aren't what you are looking for we have private 30, 45 and 60 minute lessons to choose from along with workshops including cello ensembles so you can have fun playing with other students as well.
THE LAFAYETTE CELLO ACADEMY ACCEPTS ORPHAN CELLOS, if you have one to donate please donate it to LCA.
